Indirect Leadership
Leadership is for everyone. Many believe that if we don’t have formal personnel responsibilities, we aren’t truly leaders. However, indirect leadership is everywhere, and you’re already practicing it in countless ways.
Are you a specialist or project manager who leads others without having formal authority? Does your work require you to influence and drive results through others without that last star on your shoulder? This course is the shortcut to mastering indirect leadership.
In today’s workplace, more and more work is organized around projects rather than classical hierarchical structures. In such roles, we still need to navigate and lead our colleagues to achieve results, yet we can’t rely on the magic word “must.” Instead, we depend on our ability to sway and inspire our colleagues to follow our lead and gather them around an agenda or technology. At the same time, we must have strong relationships with our stakeholders and leaders above us to support our purpose. All this, while often bearing significant responsibility with limited formal authority.
The Indirect Leadership course is designed as 5-6 modules of 2.5-3 hours each, spanning 4-5 months. It can be taken individually or as a group, and we highly recommend doing it internally as a team, e.g., a team of System Managers, Tech Leads, Environmental and Occupational Health Managers, etc. This structure with a small team will also provide you with a close support group and a sparring network that you can maintain beyond the course.

"This is one of the few courses available which truly recognizes the importance of an indirect leadership role and how difficult it is to create results without formal management authority. Wonderfully pragmatic and easy to implement"
